The 2014 USINTEC Bi-Annual Meeting was held at UNY Hotel on Thursday, February 28, bringing together representatives from nine universities and USINTEC board members. USINTEC, a consortium of 15 Indonesian universities, SEAMOLEC, and The Ohio State University, focuses on improving human resource development and institutional capacity through international collaboration in teacher education.

Jaclyn Gishbaunger Alan and Robert Echart opened the meeting with a progress report on the past six months. Jaclyn highlighted the challenges and achievements of launching the bridging and language center programs in Indonesia, which took two months to implement. Robert also shared the success story of their program rollout in China, adding global context to the meeting's outcomes.

In 2014, USINTEC will continue offering tailored programs to meet member institutions' needs. Participating universities—including Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Universitas Gorontalo, and host UNY—discussed technical preparations for implementing the upcoming initiatives.

UNY welcomed the opportunity to host key USINTEC activities, including team-teaching, English courses for staff, and academic writing and speaking workshops for faculty. “These programs are scheduled for the first and second weeks of August,” said Dr. Jaka Priyana, Head of UNY’s Language Education Center.(Febi/Yuliana)
