UNY Opens Opportunities for AI Development and Digital Start-ups with APIK Korea

UNY held the third academic workshop with the Association of Indonesian Researchers in Korea (APIK). APIK is one of the scientific organizations established on October 27, 2019, initiated by the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul and APIK pioneers. The workshop aimed to map potential opportunities for applied research collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of digital start-ups. This activity was held shortly after the meeting with Shinhan University, Korea, at 17:30 local time. The workshop was led by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Siswantoyo, and attended by the Education and Culture Attaché, the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, and the APIK daily board.

APIK welcomes collaboration opportunities in AI and digital start-ups, as Korea is one of the leading countries in developing such research". Tomhert explained. In its feedback, APIK also provided much input regarding the future research roadmap in Indonesia, for example, electric cars and batteries. For information, experts who attended representing APIK included Yuli, Syafrudin and Romel, as well as lecturers from Sejong University.

Meanwhile, the Education attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul Gogot Suharwoto, Ph.D. stated that Korea opens the broadest possible research collaboration directly impacting the Industry. "Areas of expertise needed in Korea's national strategic programs will more easily get research and development funds," said Gogot.

Soon UNY is ready to collaborate in AI and digital start-ups that have been established and require the contribution of thoughts and hard work from the Indonesian diaspora abroad through APIK. "The research roadmap for the assignment of UNY PTN BH is important to do to develop sustainable technology," said Prof. Siswantoyo.

In closing, UNY, the Education attaché and APIK held the first iftar, the momentum of the beginning of Ramadan in Korea. The warm event lasted until before tarawih prayer local time. This initiative is one of UNY's efforts toward Sustainable Development Goals in partnership and education.
