A team of Community Service Program (KKN) students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has successfully implemented initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of residents in Pedukuhan Timpang, Gebangan Hamlet, Pengasih Village, Kulon Progo Regency. Led by Muhammad Aji Farid Fadila, with Anindya Nari Dewati as a resource person, the group focused on programs that promote food independence and community creativity.
One of their flagship programs involved repairing the village gate and creating plant pots for the local Women's Farming Group (KWT). This initiative, undertaken at the request of the local hamlet leader, aimed to beautify the area and invigorate KWT activities. The students utilized discarded mineral water gallons to craft the plant pots, aligning with environmentally friendly practices. Residents can use these pots to cultivate medicinal or edible plants, thereby bolstering household food independence.
Preparation and execution of these activities commenced at the onset of the KKN period, beginning with site observations to identify areas needing improvement. The preparatory phase lasted approximately one week, culminating in the construction of the gate and plant pots on KWT land in Pedukuhan Timpang. The process encompassed several stages, including observation, sourcing materials, and the actual building of the gate and plant pots.
