On February 17, 2025, students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a workshop in Kwangen Village to teach the traditional Indonesian textile art of jumputan. This initiative aimed to preserve local culture and empower the community by providing practical skills that could lead to new business opportunities.

Held over two days at the spacious Pendopo Kwangen, the workshop targeted housewives, recognizing their potential to transform newfound skills into additional income. Participants received comprehensive training, starting with the history and fundamentals of the jumputan technique, including fabric tying methods to create unique patterns.

The program also covered material selection, teaching attendees about suitable fabrics like cotton and silk, and the differences between natural and synthetic dyes. By the end of the workshop, participants had created their own jumputan pieces, showcasing vibrant designs and expressing enthusiasm for applying these skills to improve their economic well-being.
