UNY wins three gold medals at the 2024 ASEAN University Games

Indonesia became the overall champion of the 2024 ASEAN University Games Surabaya-Malang by winning 126 gold medals, 99 silver medals, and 71 bronze medals. UNY participated in supporting Indonesia to become the overall champion by winning 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.

ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2024 is a biennial sporting event participated by 11 countries in Southeast Asia and attended by no less than 5000 student-athletes. Indonesia sent 392 student-athletes to show the world that Indonesia is a superior country, not only in terms of sports achievements but also in terms of culture, friendship, and sportsmanship. This year, Indonesia has Mas Suma as its mascot for AUG 2024. Mas Suma is an acronym for ASEAN University Games Surabaya Malang Mascot. The mascot is symbolized by a combination of images of crocodiles, sharks, and lions.

Expert Staff of the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs for Sports and Welfare, Dr. Okky Indera Pamungkas is grateful for this achievement and hopes that in the future it will increase. One of the gold medalists, Zulfa Khoirina Dewi felt happy to have won a gold medal at the 2024 ASEAN University Games, being part of the Indonesian contingent that successfully collected 7 gold medals 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals and was named the overall champion for archery. "This achievement does not only make Indonesia proud, but it is also an honor for me because this is my first time participating in the ASEAN University Games," said the gold medalist of the women's recurve team archery branch. The FEB UNY Management study program student admitted that every day he practiced techniques and shot approximately 400 arrows per day and physical exercise. Because archery sports are not held in training centers with the Indonesian team, they are only monitored through daily scoring by the coach online.

Meanwhile, Erva Erviana explained that the preparation had been carried out for a long time since last year. But for intensive preparation starting early in 2024. "I practice Monday-Saturday. I am also included in the DIY judo Puslatda team. So I practice every morning and afternoon, but I don't leave my lectures," said the silver medalist in the 63 kg women's judo class. After morning training Erva immediately attended the lecture and after the lecture returned to the Dojo to prepare for afternoon training. The PJKR FIKK UNY student also participated in several championships to see where her training skills are and also for future evaluation.

The AUG 2024 gold medalists from UNY are Shallma Lushiana in the pencak silat sport in the Women's Class E category, Zulfa Khoirina Dewi in the Women's Recurve Team archery sport and Lisnawanto Putra Aditya in the Men's Recurve Team archery sport.

Silver medalists were Linda Sariyani in Women's Compound Team archery, Erva Erviana in Women's Class-63 KG judo, Nurma Anjani in Women's Speed Reelay Category rock climbing and Bernadhetta Shella Herdanti in Women's Team Beach Volleyball.

Bronze medalists Bernadhetta Shella Herdanti in women's beach volleyball and Erviko Andrean Prameswari in taekwondo Poomsae Women's Team.
