Various issues arise in the management of graduate schools related to the integration of master's and doctoral levels that join the faculty, mono vs multi-disciplinary and transdisciplinary. These are the challenges and opportunities discussed in the meeting of the Association of Postgraduate Leaders of State Universities throughout Indonesia held on May 10-12, 2024. 47 participants actively participated in this meeting.
"We need to build discussions to strengthen cooperation between institutions. Through this discussion, we can learn about best practices from each university in facilitating mono, multi, and transdisciplinary science," said Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto.
Prof. Tjitjik Sri Tjahjandarie, Ph.D., as a resource person, stated that building a scientific tree requires an approach from various scientific branches to be applied in the world of work, so that multidisciplinary science becomes relevant. "Monodisciplinary science must be able to adapt by providing additional competencies outside the main discipline," she said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO, as the moderator, added that state universities that have been incorporated have flexibility in the preparation of organizational structures so that each university is unique in managing graduate schools.
