SETIARTI, BICF SILVER MEDALIST FINISHED HER STUDY IN FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCES

A student from Biology Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences, Setiarti Dwi Rahayu, is able to finish her study with an impressive 3.65 GPA. Not only being favorable in her academic matters, she is also one of the members of UNY’s Student Choir “Swara Wadhana”, who has taken home the silver medal at the prestigious Bali International Choir Festival held in Prime Plaza Hotel and Suites, Sanur, Bali last year. The choir team successfully won the silver medal for both Mix Choir and Folklore category.

Setiarti is able to finish her bachelor degree and is a graduate for February period which was successfully held on Thursday, February 2nd 2019 in the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences.  There were 20 other students participated with seven of them from Biology who are able to graduate within 3.7 year period.

After the event, Setiarti explained that beside her joining “Swara Wadhana”, she is also heavily involved in the Biospeleology Studien Gruppen (BSG) Students Association which mostly deals with Biospeleology, a branch of biology that studies every organisms living in caves. BSG provides a perfect experience for Biology students to enhance themselves in both scientific climate and their development of field research that are not yet to be explored in college. The field of study of BSG includes cave biota and its ecosystem; Chiroptera (bats), Arthropod, Microbiology, Eksokarst (surface landforms).
Outside her academic success, she is also an activist as being one of the representatives in “Youth Community” of Melia Sehat Sejahtera Yogyakarta. “I have been a part of the community for nearly two years. We create this community in hope for students to be able to develop their own autonomous economic skill to increase their income.” the born in Purbalingga girl said. (witono/terj.AJN)
