Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) continues to shine on the global academic stage. On March 20, 2025, UNY was honored at the "Appreciation for World-Class University Achievements: QS World University Rankings (QS-WUR) Top 500 by Subject" event in Jakarta. This recognition follows the release of the QS World University Rankings by Subject on March 12, 2025, where UNY's English Language and Literature, as well as Education programs, were ranked among the top 251-300 in the world.

During the event, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, highlighted the importance of translating these achievements into meaningful societal contributions. He encouraged Indonesian universities to work together to enhance their global standing, stating, "Rankings should be seen as a reflection of our institutions' quality and impact, not just as numbers to chase."

Representing UNY was Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Soni Nopembri, Ph.D., who also leads the university’s Ranking Committee. He expressed his gratitude to the entire UNY community for their dedication and hard work. "This recognition is the result of our collective effort to improve academic excellence, research output, and community engagement. We are proud to see UNY gaining international recognition," he said.

The event provided an opportunity for universities to reflect on their progress and develop new strategies to maximize their impact. Securing a place in the QS-WUR Top 500 by Subject is not just about prestige—it reinforces UNY’s commitment to providing high-quality education and making a meaningful difference in the academic world and beyond.
