"Education is an investment in civilization. It has become our passion to give quality education. Let us implement our passion directly to the community because our core business is education,” said UNY Rector at the send-off ceremony for Community Service and teaching practicum programs on Wednesday (1/3) at the UNY Auditorium. The Rector, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs and the Vice-Rector for Planning and Finance, sent 281 students for community service and teaching practicum this semester.
Dr. Yudanto, the Head of the Center for Community Service, Teaching Practicum, and Internship, reported that out of 281 students, 205 students participated in community service programs, 50 carried out teaching practicum programs, and 26 joined integrated community service and teaching practicum. There were 41 lecturers assigned as Field Supervisors, consisting of 11 community service supervisors and 35 teaching practicum supervisors.
Community service and teaching practicum program for the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year runs from March 1 to May 31, 2023. Twenty hamlets, 18 schools, clubs, and institutions/offices become the program's target location. In the Sleman Regency area, there are 90 students who are deployed in 6 hamlets, 81 in 9 hamlets in Kulon Progro Regency, and 56 in 5 hamlets in Gunungkidul Regency. “During the program, students will be covered by BPJS (insurance). It is important to be careful and stay safe because our health and safety are paramount. Be an example and role model in carrying our alma mater there because we are an educated generation," stated Prof. Sumaryanto at the end of his speech
