The availability of uneven and inexpensive water supply equipment, geographical location, access limitations, rising human population growth, and pollution of clean water sources, have an impact on the health and availability of clean water. This condition is the background of a number of students from Yogyakarta State University to create an innovative water purifier to overcome the problem of the availability of clean water is very limited. This innovation tool called REOSQUIDO. REOSQUIDO or Reserve Osmosis Liquidov is a technological innovation tool in the process of producing clean and drinkable water that utilizes the raw materials of seawater through the desalination process.

This tool uses evaporation method of UV rays and microcontroller that can turn sea water into drinkable water as well as salt crystals. REOSQUIDO was created by a UNY student team consisting of Ersyah Yulia Nur (History Education), Alsa Rizki Safitri (Chemistry), Mia Isnaningrum (Chemical Education), Muhammad Abdul Azis (Electronic Engineering), and Dedi Nurohman (Indonesian Language and Literature) award from this prestigious event. Thanks to their innovation tool, the Indonesian flag fluttered in the IPITEX 2018 (International Intellectual Property Invention, Innovation And Technology Exposition) innovation competition in Bangkok, Thailand. Competition held by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in cooperation with Internation Federation of Inventor's Associations (IFIA) followed by 24 countries namely Canada, China, Egypt, Hongkong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines , Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vietnam and Thailand.

Delegates from UNY successfully achieved 3 awards at the same time IPITEX 2018 (INTERNATIONAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, INVENTION, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY EXPOSITION) IN BANGKOK THAILAND. The award was Gold Medal and Innovation Award in technology category given by Rector of University of Craiova Romania, and Bronze Medal given by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Ersyah, team leader of UNY, hopes that the tools they create can be developed and utilized, especially for coastal communities that have limited water supply. (Else)
