"Long life with a quality life is more valuable than just a long life," said dr. Probosuseno, Sp.PD-Kger in the event of the Eid al-Adha 1442 H Study at UNY Postgraduate. He explained that now it is no longer how to live a long life, but shifts his focus to how to live a quality life, not just a life, but a long and quality life.

Based on several studies, life expectancy  of humans around the world has increased in the last 60 years. In 1950, human life expectancy was at the age of 48 years. "Meanwhile in 2010, there was an increase of 20 years to 68 years. This indicates, humans continue to develop in a better direction. The development of health and medical technology, as well as economic growth and education are important factors in increasing human life expectancy.” added Probosuseno.

However, the high life expectancy does not necessarily guarantee the quality of human life. There is no point in having a long life if it is only spent in bed because of illness and inability to move. Probosuseno explains that life expectancy is sometimes not in line with human expectations, namely being healthy and happy, having enough wealth, having a job, having a harmonious family, and dying in good condition. Therefore, various SDG's efforts to support good health and well-being must be balanced with efforts to improve the quality of our life values.
