On November 25, 2024, the Sociology Education Department of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a "Practitioners Teach" event on "Training and Developing Indonesia's Excellent Human Resources through Community Empowerment." The event, held at the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Room, Faculty of Social Sciences, Law, and Political Science (FISHIPOL) UNY, featured Tunggak Santosa, S.H., M.H., Head of the Balai Besar Pelatihan dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (BBPPM) Yogyakarta, as the keynote speaker.
Santosa emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, universities, and communities in rural development. He highlighted BBPPM Yogyakarta’s role as a technical implementation unit under the Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, covering Central Java, East Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. He also shared BBPPM Yogyakarta’s evolution from the Balai Latihan Transmigrasi DIY to a focused institution for training and community empowerment. The institution is committed to upholding good governance standards.
This event aims to provide Sociology students with practical insights into community development and empowerment. It also introduces students to internship opportunities at BBPPM Yogyakarta, aligned with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, preparing them with practical skills and a deeper understanding of rural development. This initiative further demonstrates UNY's commitment to connecting academic theory with real-world practice, supporting government efforts in accelerating village development and building superior human resources in Indonesia.
