In celebration of the upcoming Mother’s Day on December 22, Dharma Wanita Persatuan Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (DWP UNY), in collaboration with the Directorate of Research, Collaboration, Information Systems, and Business (RKSIU), held a "Hijab Painting Workshop: Building Creativity and Entrepreneurship" on November 28, 2024, at Abdullah Sigit Hall, Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) UNY.
The event was attended by UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO, Vice Rectors, Deans, Directors, and around 70 participants, including DWP UNY Chair Sulastri Sumaryanto and DWP members from central and faculty levels.
Three speakers led the workshop. Dra. Retno Damayanti – Expert in fashion coordination, emphasizing harmonious outfit and hijab selection based on body type, skin tone, and occasion; Putri Marganing Utami, M.Pd. – Lecturer in Fashion Design, discussing color theory and its role in enhancing visual appeal and emotional impact in design; and Dr. Dwi Retno Sri Ambarwati – Art Education Lecturer, highlighting the uniqueness of hand-painted hijabs as a medium of artistic expression and personal creativity.
DWP Chair Sulastri Sumaryanto expressed gratitude for the strong participation, emphasizing the workshop’s role in nurturing members' creativity and talents. Rector Sumaryanto also stressed the importance of women's creativity in supporting family and professional life.
The workshop concluded with a competition, recognizing participants with outstanding creations. Sulastri Sumaryanto presented awards to the winners, fostering a spirit of innovation and empowerment among attendees.
