"I am proud and grateful for the opportunity to synergize with the Asmat Regency government and Universitas Musamus to improve the quality of institutions and human resources," said Prof. Sumaryanto in his remarks at the MoU signing ceremony between Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta(UNY), Musamus University (UNMUS) and the Asmat Regency Government on June 25, 2022.

Rector of UNMUS, Dr. Drs. Beatus Tambaip, M.A. stated that the enactment of the regional autonomy law did not directly accelerate the process of human resource development in Asmat. "Universitas Musamus, with all its limitations, has participated in building a partnership with Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta through the teacher profession program while simultaneously collaborating with the Asmat Regency government. We hope that this collaboration can accelerate human resources development in the South Papua region, including the Asmat Regency," said Dr. Beatus Tambaip.

"The signing of this MoU is an extraordinary commitment based on a call to be able to do something for the progress of our nation, especially for Indonesian citizens living on the eastern horizon of the archipelago. The Asmat district government welcomes the collaboration between Universitas Musamus Merauke and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta," said Elisa Kambu, the Regent of Asmat.

Elisa Kambu stated that limited infrastructure and resources had prevented the Asmat district government from accessing various opportunities for self-development. "Regulations that require teachers to have a minimum of a bachelor's education, teacher certification programs, and various other educational demands have long been our concern. We have gathered for a long time to solve these problems. We hope that with this collaboration, we will synergize together. I will provide financing or whatever is needed that can provide access to strengthening the capacity of education personnel in the Asmat district,” said Elisa Kambu.
