Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held a graduation and induction ceremony for students of the Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI) on Wednesday (April 15, 2026). The event took place at the Directorate of Professional Education and Competency (DPPK) Building and was attended by university leaders, lecturers, and program participants who had successfully completed all stages of the professional engineering education.
A total of 23 students were declared graduates at this ceremony after undergoing a series of educational stages designed to produce competent and competitive professional engineers.
In his remarks, UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto expressed appreciation to the graduates for successfully completing the program and earning their engineering title. “UNY provides opportunities for these new engineers to contribute their expertise, as campus development projects will continue over the next two years,” he stated. He added that graduates could take roles as planners, implementers, or coordinators, and are also encouraged to pursue further studies at the master’s or doctoral level.
The UNY Professional Engineer Program is one of the university’s flagship programs, accredited and focused on developing technical, managerial, and professional ethics competencies. Throughout the program, participants are guided by experienced lecturers and practitioners, while also gaining hands-on experience through practical work and real-world projects.
The ceremony involved 23 students from batches 13 and 14, consisting of 8 regular program students and 15 from the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway. A total of 21 students attended the ceremony in person, while 2 participated online.
One of the graduates, Tedi Irawan, expressed his gratitude to all parties who supported his educational journey. “This program has provided me with valuable experience to better prepare for future challenges, especially in the engineering field, where the profession will be increasingly needed,” he said. As a professional engineer, he aims to apply his expertise to contribute added value to national development.
Through this graduation and induction ceremony, UNY hopes that its Professional Engineer Program graduates will become agents of change capable of responding to the needs of industry and society.
