Hj. Badingah, S. Sos. as Regent of Gunungkidul and Prof. Dr. Sutrisna Wibawa, M.Pd., as Rector of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta signed the Land Grant Agreement of the Gunungkidul Regency Government to UNY on October 2, 2019 at the Gunungkidul Regent's Office Home. This important ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of Gunungkidul, Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) and all leaders from Gunungkidul Regency.

Rector of UNY said that after the signing of the Grant Agreement, UNY would immediately follow up with development in 2020. Hopefully in 2020, there will also be an implementation of new student admissions for the campus in Gunungkidul. Therefore, UNY hopes that the Gunungkidul Regency Government can smoothen the paperwork process for the development process. This collaboration activity is a form of UNY's commitment in improving education in Indonesia, especially in the area around UNY, namely the Special Region of Yogyakarta, especially in Gunungkidul Regency. The addition of new Study Program Outside the Main Campus of UNY in Gunungkidul is expected to provide better access for higher education for  Gunungkidul community.

The Regent of Gunungkidul said that the Gunungkidul community really needed a better education access because as is well known that education in Gunungkidul was the lowest of the Regencies / Cities in DIY. Gunungkidul will also try to improve education through regional scholarships. Related to the acceleration of the building of Study Programs outside the Main Campus, Gunungkidul is ready to assist in the smooth process of permits and to assist in the construction of roads for access for construction vehicles.
