UNY Student Association of Geography Education Study Program teach children at Kalasan Anak Alam (Kalam) every Sunday at 09.00 to 11.00. The activity was attended by students majoring in Geography Education and open to the public. The teaching program actually is an annual work program for Student Association of Geography Education.
The program has planned eight meeting schedule. It was the third meeting on 20 Septeber 2019. Eighteen people joined in the service program. "If there are 18 tutor from both Student Association members and non-members. The program is open for those who want to teach the children,” Aulia Atalla said
She said the purpose of this work program was to facilitate Geography Education students in increasing social awareness as a form of implementing one of the Higher Education Tri Dharma, namely in the form of community service and the promotion of geography science.
Teaching geography is an annual work program held in public schools. But this year the agenda was held at the Kalasan Anak Alam Community and not at a formal school. "Unfortunately, we do not have sufficient man power to teach in senior high school. That’s why from the program meeting, our alumni challenge us to teach in community and we accepted the idea,” she said. (Latifah Dian Azhari /JK; Tj.Lak)
