Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) successfully organized a blood donation drive as part of the series of events commemorating its 62nd Anniversary. The activity was held on Monday (11/5/26) at the Gymnasium Hall of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Health (FIKK). Organized by the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of UNY, the event was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Sardjito General Hospital.

The blood donation drive began at 08.30 a.m. and was scheduled to conclude at 01.10 p.m. The event opened with remarks from the Chairperson of DWP UNY, Sulastri Sumaryanto. According to her, this voluntary activity aimed to strengthen social awareness, considering the high demand for blood for medical purposes within the community, including accidents, surgeries, and childbirth assistance.

The Rector of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO., in his remarks during the event, encouraged participants to maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the activity.

The blood donation drive successfully attracted strong enthusiasm from the UNY academic community, as reflected in the number of participants exceeding the initial target. “A total of 225 participants joined today, surpassing our target of 150 participants collected from faculties and directorates within UNY,” explained Sulastri.

The theme of the 62nd Anniversary celebration in 2026 is “Optimizing Achievement Towards an Impactful UNY.” In line with this theme, the blood donation activity served as a positive effort to enhance social awareness among the UNY academic community while also creating a direct impact on society.
