YSU INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS PROMOTE THEIR COUNTRIES IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Joyful faces were clearly expressed by students of 4th,5th, and 6th grade, Muhammadiyah Kemadang Elementary School, Gunung Kidul. The reason was the visit of 9 international students from varying countries on Tuesday (4/5). Those international students are Darmasiswa and Developing Countries Partnership (DCP) scholarship awardees that attend Indonesian language and culture course for a year in Yogyakarta State University (YSU).

Later on, those students would visit each class while teaching and telling the language and culture of their respective country. During the teaching, several unique souvenirs would also be disseminated to students to draw their interest in the class.
Sartono in his capacity as the Headmaster of Muh Kemadang Elementary School expressed his please and gratitude over the visit from YSU international students. “We would like to capture and record this moment in the form of a picture as a keepsake” he suggested.

One of the Darmasiswa awardees from Uzbekistan Islomjon Mulajonov stated that this event was very positive activity. Speaking in a very fluent Bahasa Indonesia “It needs to be done every year”. In the class, he taught some vocabularies in Uzbekistan while presenting some stimulating games.

The visit of international students to the school was not the first and the only international experience for the children. Sartono explained recently his students met and got acquaintance with elementary school students from Australia who visited a beach near the school for vacation.

After the teaching and learning process, those international students continued their agenda to have excursion in Sundak beach located near the school. (Wulan)
