Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has established a partnership with PT Nihon Seiki Indonesia (NSI), with a visit to the NSI headquarters in Delta Silicon Industrial Park Lippo Cikarang, Bekasi. UNY sent the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Siswantoyo, accompanied by the Secretary of the Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Alumni Directorate, Kristiyono, MH, the Head of Student Welfare Division, Supriyono, S.IP, the Executive Staff of the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Cerika Rismayanthi, the Head of the Internship and Career Division, Yosep Efendi, M.Pd and staff from the Career and Alumni Center.

According to Siswantoyo, this activity aims to strengthen the UNY alum network in PT NSI, to help absorb graduates and facilitate the company's recruitment on Campus (RoC) at UNY. "UNY will invite the General Manager of PT NSI to be a Career Seminar Speaker and form a research team that is a collaboration between several programs such as Mechatronics/Electrical, Electronics and IT," he said. The General Manager of PT NSI, Widodo Bodro Husodo, S.E, stated that General Manager and the Japanese Board of Directors were very satisfied with the performance of the five UNY graduates who worked at PT Nihon Seiki Indonesia. Therefore, NSI wants to contribute to the development of UNY. "NSI will support education development in UNY, except for the grant of tools/machines. NSI cannot provide machine grants because the machines they use can be used to produce firearms," Widodo said. According to him, NSI needs effective and efficient Quality Assurance and Quality Check (QA-QC) assistance for some products with very small dimensions. So far, QA-QC for these components has been carried out manually, involving several employees with the help of a microscope. The hope is for a robot-based machine that can inspect the quality of these very small-sized products.

Currently, five UNY graduates are working at NSI. They are Budi Irawan (Automotive Engineering Education) in the PPIC Department, Riyadi (Automotive Engineering Education) in the PPIC Department, Joni Bayu Setiawan (Mechanical Engineering Education) in the Maintenance Department, Mohammad Azriel Syahputra (Mechanical Engineering Education) in the Marketing Department, and Anang Kus (Mechanical Engineering Education) in the Production Department.
