Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has once again demonstrated its national standing by securing two prestigious Abdidaya Ormawa 2024 awards, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. The awards ceremony took place at Udayana University in Bali from Thursday to Saturday (November 7–9).
UNY’s achievements include fourth place for "Most Strategic Partner for Sustainable Support" by UKM Penelitian and third place in the "Strongest Partnership Realization" category by BEM FMIPA's PPKO team. The Abdidaya Ormawa Awards recognize universities excelling in community engagement activities that actively involve student organizations, highlighting the significant role of these organizations in supporting impactful programs for broader societal benefit.
With this year's theme, “Strengthening Student Organizations and Soft Skills Development as Agents of National Transformation,” the Abdidaya Ormawa awards emphasized collaboration, technological innovation, and partnerships in advancing Indonesia’s progress.
Prof. Soni Nopembri, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at UNY, expressed his pride and gratitude for the recognition. He noted that this success reflects the hard work of UNY’s academic community, particularly the students actively engaged in social, cultural, and community service activities. He added, "This award underscores that UNY is not only academically accomplished but also committed to character development and the active role of students in contributing to society. We hope that in the future, UNY’s student organizations will continue to expand and innovate in community service programs."
Heru Pramana, Village Head of Cucukan and partner of UKM Penelitian’s PPKO program, expressed joy at the achievement following the competitive selection among villages. "The opportunity to meet and discuss with village leaders from various regions in Bali was valuable," he shared. Meanwhile, Iftitah Alya Fadharis, the lead of BEM FMIPA's PPKO team, explained that Wonoboyo Village was chosen as a partner village to implement a sustainable smart agriculture program.
