Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Telekomunikasi Indonesia Limited (Telkom Ltd.) agree to cooperate in supporting the development of YSU in the near future. This cooperation started with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which on the behalf of YSU, was represented by Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A., the Rector of YSU, and on the side of Telkom was represented by Muhammad Awaluddin as the Director of EBIS Telkom yesterday (3/3/2016) at the West Senate Room, YSU.

In this occasion, the Director of EBIS Telkom would like to socialize the Indie Campus program. This program is a fiber optic network that would increase the connectivity of a campus, even among several campuses. “We realize that there is an imperative demand of building an infrastructure that supports the research at both state and private universities, especially at the regional level of ASEAN. We already have some cooperations with some state universities, and with this MoU, we would like to hold hands with YSU in terms of enhancing the infrastructure of the campus,” said Muhammad Awaluddin. With Indie Campus, hopefully the lecturers and the researchers will have a better access in searching for data and do research between campuses.

Prof. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A., stated that this cooperation will benefit both YSU and Telkom Ltd. “In the future, I would like YSU to have a database, like E-library. All data must be digitized, thus, when the physical document is damaged or burnt, we still have a digital backup”.

Furthermore, the Rector also proposed some of the YSU’s amenities such as the YSU Hotel, YSU’s Sports Hall, and the YSU’s Athletic Field, should the company conducts a grand meeting in Yogyakarta.
At the end of the meeting, both sides signed the MoU which has been drafted before. The meeting, then, was closed by a photo session and exchange of token of value. (Wulan)
