On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the Rectorate of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held the annual Qurban (sacrifice) ceremony in the parking area of the UNY Auditorium. This year, the university sacrificed three cows and three goats, marking an occasion woven into religious reflection and community service for Idul Adha. The event drew enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, students, and community members

UNY Trains Women in Kampung Mas Bumijo as Fire Response Leaders to Strengthen Community Safety

To strengthen disaster preparedness at the community level, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), through its Center for Work Safety, Health, and Environment (Pusat K3L), joined hands with the Indonesian Fire Safety Professional Society (MPK2I) to train residents of Kampung Mas Bumijo Kulon in fire prevention and emergency response. Held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, this initiative was particularly focused on empowering women—especially homemakers—to take the lead as first responders in local fire emergencies.

WSU Delegation Learns Disaster Mitigation at the Code River

On the eighth day of the Western Sydney University (WSU) delegation’s visit to Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), the program (Poly)Crisis, Cross-Cultural Responses & Resilience focused on SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. One of the highlights of the day was a visit to Cokrodiningratan Tourism Village, a riverside community along the Code River that stands as a real example of how disaster mitigation and water conservation can be managed directly by local residents.

Preserving Yogyakarta Value through Education

On November 26, 2024, a book discussion titled Kuliah Keistimewaan Yogya: 15 Topics on the Special Status of DIY for Students was held at the Digital Library of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The book, written by Dr. Haryadi Baskoro, co-founder of Forhannas, explores the special status of Yogyakarta from an academic perspective. The event featured expert speakers, including RB Dwi Wahyu B., M.Si, and Prof. Sri Harti Widiastuti, and encouraged interactive discussions with faculty and students.

Nurturing Pulesari as a sustainable socio-cultural tourism destination

"Environmental preservation supported by local social and cultural values can create a sustainable ecosystem," said Edi Widodo, M.Pd, in a workshop entitled "Rawat Bumi Dusun Pulesari" on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. This message becomes very important as more and more villages are promoted as nature and cultural tourism villages. Tourism village management that does not consider natural sustainability has become an essential issue in the decline of village-based tourism.

BIONIC UNY pioneers Eco-Edu Forest in Purwoharjo
