ACADEMIC DISCUSSION WITH ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, CHINA

Monday (19/12/16) at the East Senate Room, Office of Rector, the leaders of YSU received a visit from Zhejiang University of Technology, China. The group was received by the Vice Rector IV dr.rer.nat Senam and the Deans of the faculties at YSU. The delegation from Zhejiang University of Technology, China were Prof. Mei Xinlin as the Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Wang Wanliang as the Dean of College of Computer Science and Technology, Prof. Chen Yantai as the Dean of College of Politics and Public Administration, Prof. Pan Baisong as the Deputy Dean of College of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Yang Dongyong as the Deputy Dean of College of Information Engineering, and Prof. Lou Heying as the Deputy Dean of College of Foreign Languages.

This visit aims to discuss cooperation between the assessments of the Yogyakarta State University with Zhejiang University of Technology, China. "We know that YSU is very strong in the field of education and vocational" said Prof. Lou Heying. There are more than 100 Indonesian students who are studying at Zhejiang University of Technology, China. On this occasion, Dr. Widyastuti Purbani as Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Arts is also promoting several programs that have been undertaken by FLA with universities from China, including a credit transfer program with Guangdong and Yunnan Minzu University. "The potential of cooperation in the cultural field is enormous, as we know that China is rich in cultures of art and oral literature." she said.

In presentations and discussions delivered by Prof. Lou Heying, has explained that the YSU and Zhejiang have many similarities both in terms of the courses offered and the amount of education coverage. "In terms of the size of the university, UNY and Zhejiang have a lot in common." said Prof. Mei Xinlin as the Chairman of the University Council. He also believes that engineering and business collaboration are areas that deserve to be developed in the future.
