A long journey has finally paid off for Riska Amelia, a new student at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) from Kebumen. After facing setbacks on several occasions since 2025, Riska was finally admitted to UNY through the university’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) admission pathway in 2026.
For Riska, UNY was not simply a dream university chosen by chance. Since high school, she had developed a strong interest in the university. She cited the quality of its facilities and the opportunities to develop her potential as the main reasons for choosing UNY as the place to pursue her higher education.
“I have been very interested in UNY since high school. The facilities are excellent, and I want to develop my talents here,” Riska said.
Her achievement did not come easily. After unsuccessful attempts through various admission pathways in 2025, Riska decided to take a gap year while continuing to prepare herself. During this challenging process, she admitted that she sometimes felt exhausted. However, the unwavering support of her parents and their continuous prayers became a source of motivation that encouraged her to rise again and try once more.
Her hard work eventually paid off when Riska was announced as a successful candidate for admission to UNY. She could hardly contain her happiness. “I was extremely happy and very excited because I never expected that I would finally be accepted at UNY,” she said.
During the CBT Campus admission process, Riska also received full support from her family. Her parents even accompanied her to the test, a meaningful moment that further strengthened her determination to achieve the best possible result.
Beyond her academic achievements, Riska also has experience as a volleyball athlete. She plans to continue developing her talent while studying at UNY. She also intends to actively participate in student organizations and extracurricular activities as a way to enhance her skills and gain broader organizational experience.
Riska is now living in Yogyakarta in a rented room as she prepares to begin her new life as a university student. As she enters this new chapter, she has simple aspirations: to enjoy her studies, continue learning, and develop both her academic and non-academic abilities.
She also has a bigger dream of becoming a lecturer who can make a positive contribution to others through education.
Riska Amelia’s story is a testament that failure is not the end of the journey. With perseverance, hard work, prayer, and family support, a dream that was once delayed can ultimately become a reality.
