In the attempt to support internationalization spirit in the faculty level, Faculty of Social Science (FSS), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) mandated 14 students to join sit-in in University of Malaya, (UM) Malaysia from 28 November to 12 December 2015. Adi Cilik Pierewan, Ph.D., as a supervising lecturer in the event pointed out that the aim of this program is to facilitate students to have study experience in another university overseas. “ They will enjoy studying while surrounded with international atmosphere,” he ascertained.
Prof. Dr. Ajat Sudrajat M.Ag., a lecturer of FSS argued this sit-in is designed to be held annually, thus FSS could gain extended knowledge and experience from foreign lecturers. “The program allows students to prepare themselves in getting in touch with foreign students, in addition to beneficial lecture they’ll get”, he suggested.
Furthermore, the sit-in is a follow-up of the international seminar held by PAHMI IX in collaboration with FSS YSU and FSS UM. Arranged within two weeks, those YSU students will be involved in numerous activities, including attending lecture, seminar, International Day, and excursion to some landmarks in Malaysia.
He added the event could provide worthy experience for the students, while maintaining the strong relationship between YSU and UM Malaysia. (Danu)
