Prevention and Control of Sexual Violence in Campus Environment

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, there were 892 participants from UNY Students, Lecturers, and Educational staff who participated in a Webinar with the theme of Prevention and Combating Sexual Violence in the Campus Environment online and online. This event is held as a form of preventive action related to acts that enter the realm of violence and sexual harassment.

Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof .Dr. Lantip Diat Prasojo, S.T., M.Pd. emphasizes that sexual violence or harassment can happen to anyone and by anyone. It can be started from things that are considered trivial to serious. "We will learn from our sources in full regarding sexual violence and sexual harassment, which may still be wrong in perceiving it," said Prof .Dr. Lantip Diat Prasojo when opening this webinar.

The speaker for this webinar, Nurmey Nurulchaq, S.Psi., MA. started the discussion by inviting participants to fill out a short survey provided. "This survey is an initial trigger for us to understand and examine the social views that have existed in society so far," said a psychologist who is experienced in handling sexual violence and harassment.

"Sexual harassment and violence do not only happen to women, but can also target men, and the triggers are also varied, not only about clothes and physical form," she added.

The enthusiasm of the webinar participants in this event was quite large, indicated by the number of participants who joined and several questions that arose in the discussion.

Dr. Agus Basuki M.Pd., as the moderator, gave a closing statement. Any victims of violence and sexual harassment have the right to receive social assistance and legal support.” We all want our beloved campus to be safe, friendly and humane, as well as a pioneer in the safety and comfort of its citizens," concluded Dr. Agus Basuki M.Pd.
