Denok dance is one of the cultural icons in Semarang. This dance is a new creation dance in semarangan style with gambang semarang music developed by an artist and lecturer at Universitas Negeri Semarang, Bintang Hanggoro Putra. Denok dance has a unique movement that is twisting, swinging and light.  The uniqueness of this dance movement is one of the challenges that arise in the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) Regional Level 2023, from May 28 - June 3, 2023. Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta(UNY) Dancing Art Robot Team, Rosemery, participated in this robot contest in Region I, consisting of Yogyakarta, West Java, DKI Jakarta and Sumatra participants.

"To prepare for the robot contest, we started by checking the robot's readiness, designing costumes, accessories, and dance moves," said Rosemery Team Leader, Dotu Perangga Sakti. To ensure that the Rosemery robot can dance beautifully, 16 UNY students from the Departments of Electronics Engineering Education, Mechatronics Engineering Education, Chemistry Education, Electrical Engineering Education, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Fashion Education jointly developed the Rosemery Robot.

The work of UNY students from across departments gave good results. Prof. Dr. Benyamin Kusumoputro, a KRI 2023 jury member from the University of Indonesia, announced that the Rosemery Team received the highest score out of 16 teams from 16 universities across Indonesia. The Rosemery robot successfully performed the Denok Dance with agility and flexibility.

"We have won at the Regional level. But our road continues at the national level. Hopefully, we can improve our teamwork and our robot performance," said Dotu.
