In a warm and heartfelt celebration, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held a Syawal Gathering on April 8, 2025, at the Rectorate Hall. The annual event brought together university leaders and staff for a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed togetherness following the holy month of Ramadan. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and sincere greetings as colleagues exchanged forgiveness and strengthened bonds beyond the professional setting.
Rector Prof. Sumaryanto used the occasion not only to foster unity but also to share exciting plans for the university’s future. He spoke about a forthcoming organizational restructuring, which includes changes in leadership roles and the creation of two new faculties: the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Psychology. “This gathering reminds us of the strength in our shared values. As we grow together, let’s continue to move forward with the spirit of collaboration,” he said during his address.
The gathering concluded with a communal meal, where traditional Lebaran dishes were served and enjoyed together. Many staff members expressed how much they appreciated the event, not just as a celebration but as a meaningful space to reconnect and rejuvenate their work spirit. “It’s moments like this that make us feel like one big family,” shared Andi, one of the administrative staff. Events like these highlight UNY’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and a caring, connected campus culture.
