In a meaningful step toward preparing future business leaders, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia on May 23, 2025. The signing, held at the FMIPA UGM campus, marked the beginning of a shared mission: to equip UNY students and graduates with the mindset, skills, and confidence to become successful entrepreneurs at both the national and global levels.
Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso—warmly known as Pak Busan—spoke passionately about the evolving nature of global trade. He pointed out how technology, shifting consumer needs, and the demand for innovative, eco-friendly products are reshaping the business landscape. “Our future entrepreneurs must be adaptive, creative, and globally minded,” he noted, calling on universities like UNY to help foster a new generation ready to embrace these challenges with open minds and digital savvy.
The MoU was signed as part of the “Gemini Academy for UMKM BISA Ekspor” event, which also featured a talk show with young entrepreneurs. One highlight was the inspiring story of Nissa Khoirina, a passionate businesswoman who shared her real-life experiences in navigating the startup and SME world. Her journey encouraged students in the audience to dream big and take their first steps into entrepreneurship with courage and resilience.
This collaboration signifies more than just a formal agreement—it reflects UNY’s deep commitment to producing not only academically strong graduates, but also problem-solvers and changemakers who can contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth. By bringing in real industry insights and opening opportunities for business training, UNY is helping students turn knowledge into action.
Through this partnership, UNY reinforces its role as a university that goes beyond classrooms. With support from the Ministry of Trade, UNY students are now even closer to becoming future-ready innovators—equipped not only to enter the job market but to create jobs and build businesses that make a lasting impact.
