The Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) tennis team emerged victorious in the 11th Rector Cup Tournament, defeating the Menoreh Club with scores of 8–3 and 8–4 in the final matches held at the Faculty of Vocational Studies tennis courts on Sunday, May 11, 2025. In the first men's doubles match, UNY's duo, Achad Imam Ma’ruf and Vistor Syapri Maulana, showcased a solid performance against Menoreh's Dwi Harjanti and Nhiza, securing a convincing 8–3 win. The second men's doubles match saw UNY's Rafly Feby TP and Rafidhiya Muhammad overpowering Sidiq Aminudin and Senna Esnaeni from Menoreh with an 8–4 victory. "We played cautiously. This win is the result of our team's unity and rigorous training," said Vistor Syapri Maulana after the final match.
Dr. Abiyyu Amajida, the manager of UNY's tennis team, expressed his appreciation for the players and officials. "An extraordinary performance. This victory is not just about winning on the court but also a testament to how hard work, discipline, and team spirit can lead to significant achievements," he remarked. The Rector of UNY, Prof. Sumaryanto, also extended his congratulations to the winning team during the tournament's closing ceremony. "We have consistently organized this event for 11 years," he stated. He expressed hope that tennis enthusiasts in Kulonprogo would organize similar friendly matches at UNY's sports hall to foster camaraderie and strengthen bonds.
