Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has admitted 1,834 new students through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway, consisting of 1,616 undergraduate (S1) students and 218 applied bachelor’s (D4) students. These students were selected from 30,711 applicants who chose UNY as their preferred university.

Chair of the 2026 National Higher Education Admission Selection (SNPMB) Committee, Prof. Eduart Wolok, stated that a total of 806,242 high school students participated in the SNBP 2026 selection. The participants included 509,858 senior high school (SMA) students, 190,498 vocational high school (SMK) students, 104,786 Islamic senior high school (MA) students, and 1,100 others. “All participants competed for 189,017 available seats nationwide,” he explained.

UNY Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, congratulated the successful applicants and reminded them to make the most of the opportunity. “Congratulations to the newly admitted students through the SNBP pathway. With 30,711 applicants choosing UNY, this is a highly competitive achievement. Do not waste this opportunity, as it does not come twice,” he said on Wednesday (April 1, 2026). He also emphasized that students accepted through SNBP are not eligible to apply for the UTBK-SNBT or independent admission pathways and are required to complete academic verification and re-registration according to the schedule.

Head of UNY Admissions, Dr. Bambang Saptono, stated that admitted students must complete a socio-economic data form for the determination of tuition fees (UKT) via the registration portal between April 1 and April 10, 2026. “Failure to complete the form within the deadline will result in the highest tuition fee category being applied,” he stressed. The results of verification and tuition fee determination will be announced on April 15, 2026.

Students are required to pay their tuition fees between April 15 and April 29, 2026, through designated partner banks using a virtual account provided on the registration portal. The payment is non-refundable under any circumstances, except if the student fails to graduate from high school or its equivalent. Online registration must also be completed between April 15 and April 30, 2026.

For those who were not admitted through SNBP, UNY encourages them to remain optimistic, as alternative pathways such as UTBK-SNBT and Independent Selection are still available. Registration for UTBK-SNBT is open from March 25 to April 7, 2026, while details of the Independent Selection can be accessed through the official UNY admissions website.

In SNBP 2026, the most competitive program at UNY was the undergraduate Medical Program with an acceptance ratio of 1:78.7. It was followed by the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Mechanical Engineering (1:61.5) and Electrical Engineering (1:46.6), both offered by the Vocational Faculty.

Meanwhile, the most popular programs were Undergraduate Management (1,851 applicants), Undergraduate Psychology (1,469 applicants), and Undergraduate Accounting (1,268 applicants).

UNY hopes that all newly admitted students will make the most of this opportunity to develop into outstanding, creative, and innovative individuals who contribute sustainably to society.
