Malin Kundang is a folk tale from Sumatra, while the story of Bandung Bondowoso and Roro Jonggrang is a legend in Java. These two stories then met creatively in a 'slapstick' ketoprak performance, Faculty of Economics, UNY, on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The entire cast was from lecturers, staff, and students interested in the arts. Director and event coordinator Rr. Chusnu Syarifa revealed that the ketoprak performance is a part of the effort to preserve traditional Javanese culture

“This Ketoprak is the creativity of students and lecturers of FE UNY. Administrative Education students wrote the manuscript itself, and the director was also a lecturer in the Department of Administrative Education," said Dr. Siswanto, M.Pd., Dean of the Faculty of Economics, UNY

In this ketoprak performance, Bandung Bondowoso failed to meet the requirements of Roro Jongrang to build 1000 temples because of interference from Malin Kundang, who Roro Jongrang indeed preferred. Malin Kundang, who managed to bring Roro Jonggrang back to his village in Sumatra, then refused to admit his mother, who turned out to be Roro Jonggrang's maid.
