UNY Students Collaborate with Pertamina Foundation to Enhance Mental Health of Visually Impaired Teenagers

To support the mental health of visually impaired teenagers, a group of students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized a "Mental Health Bootcamp" at the Yayasan Kesehatan Tunanetra Islam (Yaketunis) Hall in Yogyakarta. The event, held recently, saw the participation of approximately 25 visually impaired teenagers.

UNY Participates in Public Speaking Training of Trainers by Ministry of Communication and Digital

From February 24 to 26, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) participated in a Training of Trainers (ToT) program on public speaking organized by Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital. Held at the Center for Communication and Digital Apparatus Development (Puspa Komdigi) in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, the program aimed to enhance public speaking skills among educators and administrative staff to foster more interactive and communicative learning environments.

Graduation as a Reflection of Quality Education

On February 22, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held its third graduation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year at the UNY Sports Arena. The event celebrated the achievements of 1,972 graduates, comprising 63 doctoral, 615 master's, 1,132 bachelor's, and 162 applied bachelor's degree recipients. The Faculty of Education and Psychology awarded the highest number of degrees, totaling 484 graduates.

Pentahelix-Based Village Community Empowerment Program

On February 19, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Eurasia Foundation (From Asia), the Department of Community Empowerment, Villages, Population, and Civil Registration of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), and the Guwosari Village in Pajangan, Bantul, DIY. The collaboration aims to implement a Pentahelix-based village community empowerment program, focusing on education, teaching, research, and community service.

Prof. Dr. Kun Setyaning Astuti, M.Pd., a lecturer in the Department of Music Education at the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), recently presented and trialed her innovative research findings at the 36th International Society for Music Education (ISME) Conference held at the University of Sibelius, Finland. The conference, founded 72 years ago, brought together over 2,000 music educators worldwide, providing an opportunity for Prof. Kun to showcase her research funded by the DRTPM DIKTI National Competitive Grant 2024.

A sad atmosphere enveloped Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) during the repatriation ceremony for Edwin Onyango Otieno, an international student who tragically passed away in a traffic accident. The ceremony took place at the Forensic Medicine Building of Dr. Sardjito Hospital on Saturday, January 4, 2024. It was attended by representatives from the Kenyan Embassy in Jakarta, Ms. Maurine Abungu and Mr. Oscar Ombwayo; UNY Vice Rectors; faculty leaders; lecturers from the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences; and Edwin's peers.

Landung Dwi Prakoso’s Journey Toward Quality Education

Dimas Landung Dwi Prakoso’s journey to higher education is a testament to perseverance and determination. Growing up in Bantul, Yogyakarta, the young man faced significant financial challenges and a lack of familial support for his education beyond junior high school. Despite these obstacles, Landung sought refuge and opportunity at the Darul Fatihah Islamic Boarding School in Pundong, Bantul, which provided him with free schooling and daily allowances.
