Primary Education Study Program of UNY Graduate School invited Prof. Mei-Ying Chen from National Chiayi University, Taiwan. She delivered a lecture about “Pre-Service Teacher Education in Taiwan”. In this lecture, UNY students learn about 3 strategies of teacher education in Taiwan to develop professional teacher by connecting rules on teacher education, the using of platform for adaptive learning and teaching practice program.

Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim interested to hear further  from Indonesia Education Experts how to improve education in Indonesia together. “The Minister of Education and Culture believes that education is the key to transformation in Indonesia. Therefore, the Minister of Education and Culture assigned me about how to develop the teaching profession, starting from the initial entry to PPG,” Iwan Syahril, the executive staff of Minister of Education and Culture, said his purpose for the visit in UNY on Friday (8/11/2019).

UNY students from 4 different faculties, united into one team and successfully won the Bronze medal at the International Invention & Innovative Competition (INIIC Series 2 in 2019) on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Palace of the Horse Selangor, Malaysia.

Fumiya Kikuchi as the representative of Domremy Co.Ltd visited UNY’s Faculty of Engineering to meet with UNY students who will participated in the internship program (01/11/2019). Fumiya was warmly welcomed by the Dean, Vice Dean of Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Head of Culinary  Education Study Program, Head of international Affairs and Cooperation Unit and lecturers of culinary education study program.

Biology Education Department of UNY welcome students of SD Muhammadiyah Sapen, Yogyakarta (1/11/2019). A group of 188 students and several teachers were accepted by the Management of Biology Education Department.

UNY improves further cooperation programs with various international partners. One of the programs is international teaching program for student. For years, UNY and SEAMEO (The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization) has collaborated through SEA-TEACHER Project. For SEA-TEACHER Project Batch 8 2019 Program, UNY has facilitated 2 students from Philippines to conduct teaching practice program at SD Budi Mulia Dua Pandeansari and SMP Negeri 5 Depok.

Vocational High School (SMK) has the priority on developing students skill on competence needed on the work place. Ironically, based on statistics on 2017 open unemployment in Indonesia showed that vocational high school graduates are the biggest contributor for unemployment in Indonesia. Based on this problem, Fitri Nur Mahmudah decided to do dissertation research entitled “Management Model of Vocational High School Cooperation with the Industry” for her doctoral degree at Graduate School UNY.

Limited free open space at home has made people need to think creatively. Such idea has made 7 students from UNY G002 KKN namely Rafid Zuhdi Nugroho (Mechatronics Education), Ridwan Nur Prasetyo (Social Sciences Education), Elsanti Devi R (Social Sciences Education), Anita Saraswati (Educational Technology), Rismawati (Javanese Language Education), Sonya Ambar Aji (Biology Education), and Hanis Ristiyana (Indonesian Language and Literature Education) under the guidance of Annisa Fillaeli, M.Sc. to organize training event on Pucunggrowong, Karang Tengah Village, Imogiri, Bantul.

Jurang Jero Tourism Forest is one of the national parks in the slopes of mount Merapi. It is located in Srumbung District Magelang Regency Central Java Province. Jurang Jero is one of new attractions that are started to be explored. Thanks to massive development that was carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Mount Merapi National Park Office unit, there are many tourism potential worth to be developed. Unfortunately, it will be a challenging attempt on tourism management aspect due to low level education background for youth around Jurang Jero Forest.

The key to success being an entrepreneur is to be courageous.  To be successful, it is important for any entrepreneur to dare facing the risk, dare to lose, dare to gain profit and dare to succeed. “If you do not have the courage, you won’t be a successful entrepeneur,” Ibnu Kurniawan Hidayat, S.Pt said on general lecture held in UNY’ Faculty of Social Sciences on Friday (11/10/2019). This general lecture was attended by students of Public Administration Study Program UNY.
