UNY Elementary Education Students Transform Used Cooking Oil into Candles to Support SDGs 8, 9, and 17

Yogyakarta – Students from the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Program at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) recently conducted a field study implementation project by transforming used cooking oil into candles at Khodijah Sinar Melati Orphanage. The activity involved 17 children aged 12–15 years, ranging from fifth-grade elementary school to eighth-grade junior secondary school students.

From Waste to Solution: UNY Off-Campus Learning Students Introduce Maggot Farming in Pandan Hamlet, Somopuro, Klaten

Klaten – Students participating in the Off-Campus Learning Program (PLK) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) recently launched a community-based organic waste management initiative through the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, commonly known as maggots, in Pandan Hamlet, Somopuro Village, Jogonalan District, Klaten Regency, Central Java. The initiative, titled Eco Point, was developed to address the longstanding challenge of household organic waste management within the local community.

April 2026 Graduation: UNY Confers Degrees on 835 Graduates with Hundreds of National and International Achievements

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held its Graduation Ceremony for Doctoral, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Applied Bachelor’s Programs for Period IV, Phase 1 of the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Wednesday (April 29, 2026) at the UNY Sports Hall. A total of 835 graduates were officially conferred degrees in a solemn ceremony.

Bintang Mandiri Scholars Lead Mangrove Conservation Project in Baros, Bantul

A group of fifth-batch Bintang Mandiri Scholarship recipients from Bank Mandiri recently carried out a social project titled Green Coast Baros in the Baros Mangrove Forest area, located in Tirtohargo, Kretek, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
