Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a visit from Walailak University, Thailand, on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Senate Meeting Room. The meeting aimed to build stronger cooperation between the two universities, especially in student and lecturer exchange, joint research, publications, and non-academic activities. This partnership also supports international exposure for UNY students and staff.
Current partnership activities between Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) and Walailak University include an International Hybrid Summer Course and a Visiting Professor program, both involving the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture (FBSB) and the School of Education at Walailak University. These initiatives offer valuable academic and cultural exchange experiences for students and staff from both institutions. Looking ahead, the partnership is expected to expand further, connecting Walailak University with three additional faculties at UNY: the Faculty of Social Sciences and Politics, the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Health, and continuing collaboration with the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture. These future collaborations will open more opportunities for joint programs and international engagement across diverse academic fields.
The meeting was attended by leaders from both institutions. Walailak University’s delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charun Bunyakan (Vice President for Academic Affairs of Walailak. University), Prof. Dr. Narin Sungrugsa(Acting Dean, School of Education), Dr. Pongpan Compan (Acting Associate Dean, School of Education), Asst. Prof. Dr. Kiki Juli Anggoro (Acting Assistant Dean for International Affairs, School of Education) and Ms. Treenuch Chaowanakritsanakul (Acting Head of Language Teaching, School of Education). From UNY, Vice Rector for Cooperation and Information System Affairs, Prof. Soni Nopembri, Ph.D., and several international unit heads from different faculties were present. The visit showed the strong commitment of both universities to working together for global academic development.
