On May 31, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held its fourth graduation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic year at the UNY Sports Hall (GOR UNY). A total of 1,579 graduates were officially conferred degrees, comprising 69 doctoral, 302 master's, 1,044 bachelor's, and 164 applied bachelor's graduates. The ceremony was also broadcast live through the university's official channels, allowing wider participation from families and the academic community.
In his address, UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto congratulated the graduates and emphasized their role as representatives of Indonesia's future. He encouraged graduates to consider pursuing further studies at UNY, aligning with the university's commitment to enhancing the quality of human resources, including educators, lecturers, students, and alumni. He highlighted that key indicators of a quality university include timely graduation, high academic achievement, and employability even before graduation. The rector also stressed the importance of maintaining and optimizing alumni networks for the institution's welfare.
The graduation ceremony featured the symbolic conferment of degrees, with Frida Hertiza Dewi, S.Pd., from the Bachelor's Program in Educational Management, Faculty of Education, representing the graduates. Frida achieved the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA) among bachelor's degree recipients, graduating with a cum laude distinction and a GPA of 3.97. In the applied bachelor's category, the highest GPA was attained by Nanik Parwati, S.Tr.Kes., from the D-IV Traditional Indonesian Medicine program.
UNY's commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of its students was evident throughout the ceremony.
