Inobike UNY: an electric bicycle innovated by UNY students

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta(UNY) students have successfully made an electric bicycle named "Inobike UNY". This bicycle can travel up to 40 kilometers (km) with charging for approximately 2 hours. The INOBIKE UNY bicycle is an early example of research integrated with learning and community service.

AGE DETECTION THROUGH FACE PHOTOS

Anthony Fioren H, Mohammad Damarjati P and Syukron Abdul A succeeded in making an age detection application through facial photos. Anthony Fioren stated that they used training data in image data of a human face with age information from the face to train a computer to recognize the age and gender of a human face. "To determine gender and age from the image, we use algorithms and digital image processing methods," he said. It works to extract parts of the human face in the image and then process it so that the output issued is the age and gender.

INVENTED INNOVATION IN RECYCLING RAINWATER AND HOUSEHOLD SEWAGE, UNY STUDENTS ACHIEVED REWARD

The Department of Civil Engineering Education and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (FT UNY) team became Cinnertion's Favorite Champion in the D'Village 10th Edition held by the Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS) (02/06– 31/10/2021). The team consists of M. Fajar Amir (Civil Engineering Education and Planning), Novarida Nurul Sabrina (Applied Bachelor Civil Engineering Study Program), and Raden Rara Bintang Permata Hati (Civil Engineering Education and Planning Study Program) supervised by Qonaah Rizqi Fajriani, M.Eng.

HYDRO COIL TURBINE, A PORTABLE POWER PLANT BY UNY STUDENTS

The need and demand for electricity in Indonesia are significantly increasing, yet the supply of energy sources is diminished. Concerning the issue, water can be a potential resource to be utilized as alternative energy. However, the use of water as alternative energy has not been used optimally. This is what prompted a group of UNY students to invent portable hydroelectric power plants that can meet electricity needs, especially in rural and remote areas.

USING PHOTOCATALYSTS TO DEGRADE SYNTHETIC DYE WASTE

The UNY students team has presented “Nanocomposite ZnO/Carbon Dots Cassava Outer Shell as a Photocatalyst for Methylene Blue Dyes Waste Degradation” at the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) 2021. Their presentation has succeeded in convincing the judges to give award silver medals.

UNY STUDENTS DESIGN SAFETY PILLOW TO PREVENT ACCIDENT DUE TO DROWSINESS

Drowsiness is the second highest accident factor after carelessness. This is what inspired UNY students to design a driving safety pillow as an effort to minimize accidents caused by drowsiness. They are Suryadi (Automotive Engineering Education), Ikhwanudin (Electrical Engineering Education), Riani Fatimah (Clothing Engineering Education) and Aulia Avi Basuki (Accounting).
