UNY Collaborates With SEAMEO QITEP in Language (SEAQIL)

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) on Tuesday (17/5) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SEAMEO QITEP in Language (SEAQIL) virtually through the Zoom application. The signing from the UNY was represented by the Vice Rector  for Planning and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes, and from SEAQIL represented by the Director of SEAQIL Dr. Luh Anik Mayani. This is part of UNY's efforts in sustainable development goals in education and partnerships.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta is one of the universities actively seizing this opportunity by cooperating with the Banyuwangi district government partner. On Tuesday (17/5) at the Sabha Swagata Blambangan Hall, Banyuwangi, the signing of the MoU between UNY and the Banyuwangi Regency Government was held.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta’s Conserves Culture through the Dalang Cilik Festival

Kunta Wijaya started holding the gunungan (Mountain shaped puppet) as a sign of the start of the wayang ( shadow puppet) performance entitled "Kangsa Lena". The young dalang (puppeteer) from Klaten has loved wayang since three years old. Kunta received guidance to learn to perform at the "Omah Wayang" studio led by Kristiaji. The performance of Kunta and several other young puppeteers enlivened the 2022 Festival Dalang Cilik (Young Puppeteers Festival) organized by the Faculty of Language and Arts (FLA) of UNY, which took place from 15-19 May 2022.

Inauguration of Five UNY Professor

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta inaugurated the title of Professor for five lecturers on Saturday (14/5). They are Prof. Dr. Mumpuarti, M.Pd. The story of Sukamdi, a laborer whose two daughters study for free at UNY

The Sukamdi family is humble. Sukamdi works as a laborer with uncertain income, while his wife, Wijirah, is a housewife. Sukamdi has two daughters. Sukamdi's older daughter is Mutiara Pesona Bil Jannah, studying at the Pancasila and Civic Education study program at the Faculty of Social Sciences batch 2019. Meanwhile, the younger daughter, Widya Happy Hakiki, is also studying in the same study program batch 2021. What's interesting about this family is that Sukamdi's two daughters have succeeded to study at UNY for free.

Celebrating 58th UNY Anniversary with tree planting

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta welcomed its 58th anniversary by planting three trees. The trees planted are the tanjung  tree (Mimusops elengi), mango tree (Mangifera indica), and tamarind tree (Tamarindus indica). The chairman of UNY alumni, Prof. Suyanto is one of the foster parents for several trees currently growing at UNY. Improving the Quality of Health through General Check-Ups and Blood Donation

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the population of Yogyakarta has the highest life expectancy in Indonesia, namely 75.08 years in 2021. This achievement is proof that the quality of health in Yogyakarta is quite good. However, that does not mean that efforts to prevent various health problems in elders are not necessary. For example, UNY held a general medical check-up for lecturers aged 60-65 years and staff aged 53-58 on 11 May 2022 at the LPPM building. This activity is a collaboration between UNY and Parahita Diagnostic Laboratory.

Successfully Challenging Limitations to Polish Elementary School Students' Dance Talent

Educating is the calling of the soul. Every educator always encourages students to maximize their potential through the teaching and learning process and directed guidance. In reality, teaching and learning activities in remote areas face obstacles. Rizki Amalia, a student of Dance Education at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta  tried to answer this challenge while participating in the Teaching Campus Program at SDN Puding Besar, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

To form a collaborative and synergistic language and arts education culture, we need an eclectic approach that provides opportunities for developing various professional, personal, and theoretical thoughts with a balanced paradigm. In the context of education in Indonesia, the design of language and art education needs to follow the cultural vision of Pancasila and the vision of life that adheres to the values of virtue. We need educational institutions that continue to grow and receive support from all parties.
