Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) continues to strengthen its role in international academic forums through the organization of The 14th International Conference on Educational Research and Innovation (ICERI) 2026. The international conference will take place on September 29–30, 2026, at the Auditorium and the Directorate of Professional Education and Competence (DPPK) Building of UNY.
ICERI 2026 carries the theme “STEM and SHARE for a Sustainable and Advanced Society.” The theme emphasizes the importance of synergy between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and SHARE (Social, Humanities, Arts, Religion, and Economics) in addressing various global challenges while building a sustainable and advanced society.
The conference is designed as an academic platform for academics, researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, industry representatives, and students from various countries to exchange ideas, present research findings, and build interdisciplinary collaboration. Through ICERI 2026, UNY seeks to strengthen the contribution of higher education in responding to technological developments and increasingly complex global issues.
Chair of ICERI 2026, Dr. Ir. Bayu Rahmat Setiadi, M.Pd., said the conference serves as an important momentum to bring together developments in science and technology with perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, arts, religion, and economics. “We present ICERI 2026 as a collaborative space for academics, researchers, and practitioners to connect the strengths of STEM and SHARE. We hope this forum will not only generate exchanges of ideas and research findings, but also encourage the emergence of innovations that have a real impact on society and support sustainable development,” he said.
According to him, rapid technological developments, including artificial intelligence, need to be balanced with attention to humanity, ethics, culture, equality, and sustainability. Therefore, an interdisciplinary approach is becoming increasingly important in producing solutions to societal issues.
“Technological progress needs to move hand in hand with human values. Through ICERI 2026, we want to encourage research and innovation that are not only academically excellent, but also relevant, inclusive, ethical, and beneficial to wider society,” Bayu added.
ICERI 2026 will feature a number of speakers from Indonesia and abroad. The keynote speaker scheduled to attend is Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, S.P., M.Si., Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), with the topic “National and Institutional Strategies for STEM and SHARE in Higher Education.” Other speakers include Dr. Ayom Widipaminto, S.T., M.T. from LPDP, Prof. Oleg V. Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Darmawan from the School of Education, Adelaide University, and Prof. Basikin, M.Phil., M.Ed., Ph.D. from UNY.
The ICERI 2026 program will include keynote sessions, plenary sessions, parallel presentations, academic discussions, and international networking. On the first day, Tuesday, September 29, the program is scheduled to take place at the UNY Auditorium, while the parallel sessions and subsequent activities will be held at the DPPK UNY Building.
Through ICERI 2026, UNY hopes to further expand its international academic cooperation networks while strengthening the university’s position as a center for the development of knowledge, research, and innovation oriented toward sustainability. “We invite researchers, academics, educators, practitioners, students, and partners from various countries to jointly build dialogue and collaboration. We hope ICERI 2026 will become part of a shared effort to create a more advanced, inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive society,” Bayu said.
