Institutionally, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta is responsible for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which has become a global development agreement under the auspices of the United Nations (UN). In line with UNY's identity as an educational institution, this responsibility and commitment is manifested through efforts to ensure equitable quality education and increased learning opportunities for all. This is in accordance with one of the SDGs agendas, namely quality education.

Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation, UNY, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes. and  the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance Prof. Dr. Edi Purwanta, M.Pd. welcomed a visit from PT Autochem Industry representative on Friday, May 28, 2021 in UNY Rectorate  meeting room. PT Autochem Industry is the sole brand holder for Master and Prestone in Indonesia. The representative of PT Autochem Industry was led by Iwan Purnama as the Marketing Director of PT Autochem Industry accompanied by Richard Joe, the Head of the Yogyakarta Branch and Heri, a representative from Semarang. One of the missions of the Cultural, Environmental and Mitigation Center (Pusbudlingmit) LPPM UNY is "Conducting community service activities according to community needs, especially in the fields of culture, environment and mitigation". Therefore, Pusbudlingmit LPPM UNY which is currently chaired by Dr. Tien Aminatun is active in conducting community service activities, one of which is an integrated community service activity held on Saturday-Sunday, 22-23 May 2021 in Bugel Village, Kapanewon Panjatan, Kulon Progo Regency.

The Innovation Center, Business Incubator, and IPR of Institute of Research and Community Service (IRCS) UNY welcomed the Representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Directorate of Individual Social Empowerment, Family, and Community Institutions, Ms. Gloria Kushala. The visit is part of information session on Business and Social Assistance Program for Beneficiary Families of the Family Hope Program (KPM PKH).

The achievements of the Renaissance-Yogyakarta can only be implemented by creative community groups across professions and institutions who are also supported by superior education whose graduates will strengthen the creative entity in order to build a dignified advanced civilization. UNY as an important implementer of Kampus Merdeka Program is expected to graduate alumni of prospective educators, not just teachers, who are ready to develop education and learning relevant to the needs of digitalization of education without being deprived of their cultural roots.

Merapi eruption in 2010 has caused considerable damage. More than 400.000 people were evacuated and 2.300 houses were damaged. This experience has set the interest of Riza Atika, Anung Endra Raditya and Rohsan Nur Marjianto, students of Mechatronics Engineering Education Study Program UNY, to create an early warning system for cold lava floods based on internet of things. The system has integrated loudspeakers for places of worship so that they can convey hazard information to potentially affected communities as soon as possible to minimize casualties.

UNY students won the Gold Medal in the International Competition on Human Necessities at the BIIS (Beirut International Innovation Show) 2021 which was held on April 8 to 10, 2021 by the National Association for Science & Research (NASR) with the International Federation of Inventor's Association (IFIA) in Beirut, Lebanon online. The completion winners were announced at MENA Unboxing YouTube channel on April 10, 2021.

The Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (FT UNY) continues to expand and focus their collaboration with the Faculty of Vocational Technical Education Universiti Tun Husein Onn Malaysia (FPTV UTHM). This was resulted in virtual meeting as a follow-up and evaluation of cooperation programs between FT UNY and FPTV UTHM which was stated in the Memorandum of Agreement between the two parties.

There are three types of manufacturing processes based on the manufacturing process, namely, manual where everything is done by hand with the help of simple tools such as saws, chisels, files and the quality is very dependent on the skills of the operator, then conventional machines where the manufacturing process has been assisted by production machines such as lathes.

Artificial Intelligent (AI) will help a machine to follow human intelligence from simple to very complex task. By using AI, it is expected to have a lower error rate compared to human performance when programmed correctly because AI has extraordinary precision, accuracy and speed. This was explained by Suprapto, Ph.D., in the webinar of the Master of Electronics and Informatics Engineering Education (PTEI) Faculty of Engineering, UNY (09/04/2021).
