The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Yogyakarta State University held an international conference titled The Science and Science Education International Seminar (SSEIS) 2019, 27-28 / 9/19 in the UNY Rector's courtroom. The theme of the conference is "Promoting Science for Technology & Education Advancement". The keynote speaker at the seminar was Prof. Mahesh Narayan, Ph.D., (Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry, The University of Texas at El Paso, Texas, USA), Prof. Dato ’Dr. Musa bin Ahmad (Biosensor, University Sains Islam Malaysia, Malaysia), Prof.

Mechanical Engineering Study Program (D3) Faculty of Engineering, UniversitasNegeri Yogyakarta obtained an “A” accreditation based on BAN-PT Decree No. 3283/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/Dipl-III/IX/2019. This accreditation is valid from 3 September 2019 to 3 September 2020.

Various attempts have been made by UniversitasNegeri Yogyakarta to earn the position as a World Class University (WCU). One of the attempt is to get international accreditation from ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges & Universities). In Batch 2, the ASIC Inspector who conducted the assessment of the study program at UNY consisted of Lee Hammond and Osman Suleman. Lee Hammond is the CEO of ASIC who has expertise in the fields of Education Management, Staff Development, Educational Leadership, Quality Assurance and Higher Education.

People can get an infectious disease if their immune system is weak and comes in contact with the cause of the infection. To prevent that, it is important to have clean and healthy living habit, keeping hands clean and implementing food safety. Such statement is given by dr. RL Ambardini from Faculty of Sport sciences UNY at Info Session for Lecturers and Staff on Thursday (9/26). According to her, personal health immunity can be maintained through healthy life application, regular exercise, having balances nutritious diet and good stress management.

Recently there has been a trend in the use of financial services based on digital technology or known as financial technology (fintech). The trend of the use of fintech also increased rapidly from 7% in 2006-2007 to 78% in 2017. This interesting fact  has made three UNY students, Meta Munita Sari (Accounting 2016), NurulKhasanah (Accounting Education 2015), and Apfi Anna Krismonita (Economic Education 2016) examines the impact of fintech on student lifestyles.

Based on the Law on Teachers and Lecturers No. 14 of 2005 states that teachers must have academic qualifications, competencies, educator certificates, physically and mentally healthy, and have the ability to realize national education goals. Teacher competencies include pedagogical competencies, personality competencies, social competencies, and professional competencies obtained through professional education.

The 2019 Energy Saving Car Contest is officially opened. On this occasion, Universitas Negeri Malang had the opportunity to host the event. In 2019, the Garuda Team of UNY included two cars, namely 1 urban gasoline car and 1 urban ethanol car.

There are many interesting tourist destinations in Yogyakarta. One of them is Jonge Lake, located in Jonge Village, Pancarejo Village, Semanu District, Gunungkidul Regency. This lake looks beautiful because it is surrounded by an artificial forest and has an area of approximately 3 hectares so it is very comfortable to be a place of recreation. However, the  Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) skill in managing and utilizing technology for tourism promotion are still insufficient.

To support the attempt to be a World Class Educational University, UNY continues to strive to build and enhance cooperation with various other universities, both domestically and internationally. The good cooperation between universities, especially with overseas partners, will strengthen UNY in the international academic arena. UNY will gain experience of interacting internationally and have the opportunity to implement and manage international collaborative activities.

Literacy ability is very important because it can determine academic success. This ability is closely related to how to read and write properly and correctly. The student environment must support the literacy movement of parents, teachers and the community. Literacy can be supported by a literacy environment in the form of playing with block letters, reading fairy tales, watching learning videos, listening to fairy tales, and facilitating interactive learning media for alphabet recognition.
