IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF TEACHERS THROUGH PROFESSIONAL TEACHER PROGRAM

Professional Teacher Program or PPG is a strategic government program that aimed to improve the quality of teachers. The quality of education is largely determined by the quality of the teacher. UNESCO finding on the quality of education from basic capabilities put Indonesia rank in the bottom 10 of 72 countries. This is a serious challenges despite of the fact that government has allocated more funds for education development.

UNY STUDENTS EXPERIENCES ON INTERNATIONAL TEACHING PRACTICE PROGRAM AND CREDIT TRANSFER

Monica Anselia Shinta Sulistyo from Mathematics Edducation Study Program has participated in both international teaching program and credit transfer. She has completed the teaching practice program at Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, Kulai, Malaysia. She taught 10th and 11th grade subjects in Mathematics. It is interesting to know that she also got the chance to teach Javanese language. "While teaching about a month there is something surprising that children there love it and memorize Indonesian dangdut songs that are being hit at that time,’Kangen '," Monica said.

IMPROVING HORTICULTURE CROP PRODUCTION WITH PORTABLE SONIC BLOOM

Students of UNY Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty have developed a tool to boost the crop production. The tool known as Portable Sonic Bloom(P-SON). Students who developing this innovation are Aisyah Nurul Iqlima, Verawati Eka Yuliana, Fajria Haniifah (Chemical Education), Muhammad Faqihul Imam (Physics), and Ana Fitriani (Mathematics).

ECO CULTURE FASHION APPLICATION ON TRADITIONAL WOVEN FABRIC

Indonesia has rich traditional fabrics such as batik and lurik from Yogyakarta or gringsing and endek from Bali. Along with the traditional woven fabrics, there are modernized fabric manufacturers that produced printed batik and linen. It allows faster production process compared with traditional woven fabrics. To keep people interest on traditional woven fabrics, a team of UNY students designed the Eco Culture Fashion which gave a new feel to traditional weaving that woven fabrics do not have in general.

SELF-HYGIENE LEARNING MEDIA FOR STUDENT WITH MENTAL DEFICIENCY

Personal hygiene is the first step to support a healthy life style. To ensure better application for personal hygiene, it is important for parents or the community to set the example. For student with mental deficiency, maintaining personal hygiene can be challenging. For this reason, UNY students developed a Personal Hygiene Smart Box as a medium for personal hygiene learning.

UNY STUDENTS INNOVATION: FISHERIES DRYING TOOL

Novi Syaifatun Kamala and Intania Betari Miranda created a tool called Smart Fish House (SFH). According to Novi, Smart Fish House uses the principle of a wall trombe, in which there is a narrow room filled with air in the form of glass. "The principle works is that the outer surface will be heated by sunlight, then the light is slowly moved into a narrow room," Novi said. Then the heat in the room will be connected.

MOU SIGNING OF UNY WITH KRATON OF YOGYAKARTA

Yogyakarta State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Yogyakarta Palace at Royal Ambarrukmo, on Tuesday March 5. This activity took place at the international symposium of Javanese culture and the Kraton Yogyakarta manuscript. The signing of the memorandum of understanding was carried out by the King of Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and Rector of UNY, Sutrisna Wibawa.

FACULTY OF ENGINERING UNY WELCOME ROBOTICS TEAM AND GARUDA UNY TEAM

The Faculty of Engineering UNY welcomed the Robotics Team and Garuda UNY Team in the Hall of Faculty of Engineering on 7 May 2019. Both teams achieved valuable result in each event they participated in, namely the UNY Garuda Team won 2nd place in the Urban Concept Category and broke the Asia and World record in terms of distance at the 2019 Shell Eco-marathon Asia in Sepang, Malaysia while the UNY Robotics team became General Champion at the Indonesia 2019 Regional Robot Contest 3 in Purwokerto.

MATHEMATICAL MODEL AS STARTING POINT FOR PROBLEM SOLVING

dr. M.L.A.M. Maarten Dolk from the Faculty of Science, Utrecht University, Netherlands, gave lectures to all students of the UNY Mathematics Education Masters Program on 29 to 30 April 2019. The lecture was conducted in the form of team teaching together with Mathematics lecturers Model, Ariyadi Wijaya, Ph.D. At the event, Dr. Maarten outlines the rules of Realistics Mathematics Education completed with very inspiring examples. Maarten proposed a "Meter" to measure the amount of PAM water used by customers.
