On May 21, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) commemorated its 61st anniversary with a ceremonial event held at the university's auditorium. The ceremony featured traditional Javanese cultural elements, known as "Gagrak Mataraman," reflecting UNY's commitment to preserving cultural identity while advancing educational excellence. The event was attended by notable figures, including the Vice Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Paduka KGPAA Paku Alam X, and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

Anggi Datiatur Rahmat, a doctoral candidate from the Doctoral Program in Educational Sciences at the Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), has been awarded the highest academic honor, Summa Cum Laude, after successfully defending her dissertation titled “Development of the L-TPASK Framework with a Transformative Approach: Effectiveness in Enhancing 4C Skills and Multipresentation of Junior High School Students.” The open doctoral promotion session was attended by the examination board, promoters, faculty members, students, and invited guests

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) welcomed assessors from the Independent Accreditation Institution for Education (LAMDIK) for a field assessment of its Civil Engineering and Planning Education undergraduate program on May 6, 2025. Held at the Faculty of Economics’ IDB Building, UNY made sure that every student, regardless of their abilities, had the tools and support needed to take the exam comfortably and equally.

On April 23, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a field assessment for its Bachelor of Science Education program, conducted by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Teacher Education (LAMDIK). Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) successfully hosted the National Computer-Based Written Examination 2025 entrance exam for 11,216 prospective students across five days, from April 23 to April 28, 2025. According to Prof. Eduard Wolok, General Chair of the SNPMB Organizing Committee, a total of 860,975 participants nationwide registered for National Computer-Based Written Examination this year. Most applicants aimed for Bachelor’s programs (799,230), followed by Applied Bachelor’s (45,582), and Diploma programs (16,164).
