"Global Gathering: UNY's Vibrant Evaluation Day for International Students"

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the UNY’s International Office organized an evaluation and academic monitoring event for international students at Bale Timoho, Yogyakarta. The event saw a remarkable turnout, with over 100 students participating, representing various programs, including KNB Programs, UNY DISS, Dharmasiswa, and BIPA. Accompanying them were coordinators and tutors for the BIPA program.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) recently embarked on a collaborative venture with Mahidol University and Chulalongkorn University from February 25 to March 1, 2024, aimed at enriching the educational experience of its staff. The initiative sought to deepen understanding of academic practices and institutional management within higher education.

Learning Mathematical Modeling Knowledge with Professor Fugo Takasu

The Department of Mathematics Education UNY held a guest lecture by presenting a Professor from the Faculty of Science Nara Women's University Japan, Professor Fugo Takasu. The lecture took place in Conference Room 1 of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNY. A total of 50 participants consisting of master and doctoral program students attended the guest lecture with enthusiasm.

Developing Wooden-based Educational Mechanical Toy

Mechanical toys that are driven manually or by electric motors are now widely produced. The existence of plastic toys is mostly mass-produced by large-scale factories. The public response to these educational mechanical toys (science toys) is very high, this is evidenced by the exhibitions that have been demonstrated in museums and entertainment venues in Indonesia, to introduce the public to the phenomena of physics, mechanics, optics, electricity, magnetism and chemistry.

Encouraging the digitization of Doctor of Education through the Digital Doktor Training Hub (Digi-Doc) project

Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) received a visit from Birmingham City University (BCU) to present the Digi-Doc project. Besides BCU, there were also representatives from the Northeast Normal University of China, Vietnam National University (VNU), Nguyen Tat Thanh University NTTU) Vietnam, HCMC University of Education Vietnam, London South Bank University, and UNY Indonesia represented by Prof. Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi.  The activity was held Tuesday-Thursday recently at FMIPA UNY.

Graduating in 3.5 years amidst busy research activities

Ilham Alfrizal Akbar, a student of UNY's Physics study program, graduated Cumlaude. "The upbringing of my parents and organizational experience during my school days helped shape my character and mindset. I believe that success is achieved through prayer, luck, strategy, and hard work. It is very important for us not to be lazy, focus on studies and organizations, and maintain consistency in carrying out strategies for success," said Ilham.

Enriching UNY students' soft skills through the Language and Culture Training Program

"UNY students who will participate in internships abroad must become ambassadors of Indonesian culture and at the same time become the face of UNY internationally. Therefore, the candidates for this program must pass this language and culture training program. When you are abroad, you must be disciplined in your work, establish good communication, and behave well," said Prof. Siswantoyo as Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs in the "Launching of Japanese, German, and English Language and Culture Training Program" on March 13, 2024.

Improving traffic literacy for junior high school students with Minepolis Game

"Indonesia is one of the countries with a high rate of traffic accidents, especially in the teenage age group. Along with the increasingly complex world of traffic and the development of technology, understanding, and skills in traffic become increasingly important to have. However, the learning process of traffic literacy is often considered uninteresting for students. Therefore, innovation is needed in learning methods that can make the learning process more interesting and effective," said Ardi Setyawardana.

UNY Forges New Educational Collaborations at APAIE Conference 2024

The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition 2024, held from March 4th to 8th at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Center (PCEC) in Perth, Australia, witnessed the active participation of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). This annual event serves as a platform to promote and connect various higher education institutions. Over the years, APAIE has remained steadfast in its mission to unify international educators.

Ega Ayu Wulandari successfully answered the challenges of university life amid financial limitations

Ega Ayu Wulandari brought a smile of happiness to her parents, Sumaryanto and Peni Lestari. Ega successfully graduated from UNY's Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program with a GPA of 3.78.

"My parents' income, which is only enough to fulfill their daily needs, made me hesitate to go to college," said Ega.

"But fortunately, there is a KIP-College scholarship that can help my daughter's tuition fees. I am happy that Ega can finally study at UNY," said Sumaryanto, Ega's father.
