Strengthening the Capacity of the Cawan Village Community in Starting and Developing MSMEs

The development of MSMEs in the community is one of the answers to alleviating poverty. This notion prompted the UNY student team, who conducted community service in Cawan Village, Klaten, to hold an activity called "Strengthening community capacity in the context of poverty alleviation". A total of 80 participants, including MSME owners in Cawan Village and youth groups, participated in this activity. The UNY student team invited Willa Luthfi, also known as Willa Ecobrick as a presenter. Willa shares his experiences explicitly in terms of operations to product marketing.

Reducing Gadget Addiction in Children with Traditional Games

Annur Galeh Pamungkas, a student of Elementary-School Teacher Education of Physical Education at UNY, feels that the current level of gadget addiction in children is quite alarming. Childhood is a time for growth and development that should be filled with learning to socialize and play. For this reason, Galeh teaches children in Giwangan to learn traditional games, namely egrang batok (shell stilts), bakiak (clogs), and jumping rope.

The Importance of Preventing Early Marriage

Legally, according to Law No. 16 of 2019, the minimum age for marriage for women in Indonesia is 19 years. However, in practice, cases of early marriage still often arise for various reasons. One reason that often appears is economic reasons. Few parents who have lost their income due to the COVID-19 pandemic believed that marrying off their children as early as possible would ease the burden on the family. This logic has triggered an increasing trend of applications for marriage dispensation involving children.

Improving Quality Education through Community Service and Educational Practice

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) symbolically sends off students who will participate in community service and educational practice programs. The students received assignments in various schools, institutions, and villages. "Currently, UNY sends students through various community service schemes. For general community service, we send students to 5 regencies and cities in Yogyakarta and eight regencies in Central Java. We also have community service based on student domicile that allows students to run community service in their respective hometowns, such as Jakarta.
