In a meaningful step toward preparing future business leaders, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia on May 23, 2025. The signing, held at the FMIPA UGM campus, marked the beginning of a shared mission: to equip UNY students and graduates with the mindset, skills, and confidence to become successful entrepreneurs at both the national and global levels.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a visit from Walailak University, Thailand, on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Senate Meeting Room.  The meeting aimed to build stronger cooperation between the two universities, especially in student and lecturer exchange, joint research, publications, and non-academic activities. The festival, led by passionate students, celebrated the potential of local crops—cassava, taro, sweet potatoes, and more—not only as culinary delights but also as sustainable solutions to address food security.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has formalized a collaborative agreement with the Yogyakarta City Government, underscoring its commitment to community-focused initiatives. Represented by Vice Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems, Prof. Soni Nopembri, Ph.D., UNY signed the partnership contract on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Hotel Tara, Yogyakarta. This agreement aligns with UNY's dedication to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, emphasizing education, research, and community service.

On May 21, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) commemorated its 61st anniversary with a ceremonial event held at the university's auditorium. The ceremony featured traditional Javanese cultural elements, known as "Gagrak Mataraman," reflecting UNY's commitment to preserving cultural identity while advancing educational excellence. The event was attended by notable figures, including the Vice Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Paduka KGPAA Paku Alam X, and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) recently hosted the Young Puppeteer Festival (Festival Dalang Cilik) as part of its 61st anniversary celebrations. The event, held at UNY's Foodcourt, featured 18 young puppeteers selected from 76 finalists across Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java. 

On Friday evening, May 16, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a solemn Reflection Night to mark its 61st anniversary. Held in the university's Main Assembly Hall, the event brought together university leaders, faculty members, students, alumni, and guests to honor UNY's enduring commitment to education since its establishment on May 21, 1964. 

The short course program themed “(Poly)Crisis, Cross-Cultural Responses & Resilience” organized by Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) reached its 12th day on Friday, May 16, 2025, marking the conclusion of the two-week series of activities. The day began with a public lecture titled “Digital Literacy for Disaster Technology Resilience in Indonesia,” delivered by Dr. Safitri Yosita Ratri, S.Si., M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D., accompanied by Dr. Ella Wulandari, M.A., Ph.D.

Festival Dalang Cilik (Young Puppeteer Festival) 2025,  part of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta's (UNY) 61st-anniversary celebrations, brought together 58 young Dalang (puppeteers) aged 9 to 15 from Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java. Over three days, from May 13 to 15, 2025, eighteen finalists showcased their talents, celebrating the rich tradition of Javanese puppetry in a vibrant cultural display.
