INSTITUTE OF RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY SERVICE READY TO SUPPORT UNY ACCELERATION TO WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY

Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) organized Work Meeting on 24 to 25 January 2020 at @K Hotel Kaliurang. The meeting was attended by the Chairperson and Institutional Secretary, Chair and Central Secretary, Journal Editor, Structural and all LPPM UNY Education Personnel. In accordance with UNY's Rector Regulation Number 17 Year 2019 on the Work Procedures of Research and Community Service Institutions, LPPM UNY has the task of carrying out coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of research and community service activities.

PANCASILA AND CIVIC EDUCATION TEACHER MUST CHANGE TEACHING PARADIGM

Learning problems on Pancasila and Civic Education for teacher ideally put cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspect. Unfortunately, current learning process has been viewed as uninteresting and unenjoyable. This condition naturally cause the lack of motivation for students. For students, learning Pancasila and Civic Education is not as challenging as other subjects because of its monotonous and boring approach as well as not a national examination material.

UIN RADEN PATAH PALEMBANG EXPERIENCED PRACTICUM AT UNY FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES

A total of 110 students of Biology Education study program Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Education from UIN Raden Fatah Palembang conducted field studies at UNY’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from Monday-Wednesday, 6 to 8 January 2020. Field lecture activities are conducted with presentation of material and practicum in FMIPA Biology Education laboratory.

INAUGURATION OF OFFICIALS AND LAUCHING OF INTEGRATED ACTIVITY AND BUDGETING PLAN

In the latest UNY Organization and Work Procedure, Coordinator of Study Program is the manager of study program who is given the assignment from 1 January to 31 December 2020. This position will be appointed annually. Similar policy also set for the head and secretary of non-structural center who will be appointed annually. There are some merging among study centers to improve their effectivity and efficiency. Another changes is set for the World Class University Team who will work directly under the rector to boost the activity implementation.

UNY FACULTY OF ENGINEERING SUPPORTING IMPROVEMENT OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION EXPERTISE COMPETENCE

UNY’s Faculty of Engineering actively support the effort to improve vocational education quality especially on building construction, sanitation and maintenance competencies. To give real support, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D signed MoA with Principal of SMKN 2 Yogyakarta, Dodot Yuliantoro, M.T. and Principal of SMKN 2 Pengasih, Sumarno, M.T (08/01/2020). The head of Civil Engineering and Planning Education Department UNY, Dr. Slamet Widodo, M.T witnessed the signing ceremony.

UNY STUDENTS ACHIEVED FAVORITE WINNER WITH CUTLE MACHINE INNOVATION AT NATIONAL STUDENTS SCIENTIFIC WEEK IN BALI

UNY Students Creativity Program Team won as favorite winner in National Student Scientific Week (Pimnas) in Bali recently. The team consisting of Muhammad Faqihul Imam and Lilis Riyanti (Physics Study Program), Ardi Jati Nugroho (Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program), Yuda Aldeika (Electrical Engineering Education Study Program) and Hestiana (Natural Science Education Study Program), created a work entitled “Cutter and Cleanser Catfish Machine (Cutle-Machine) to Improve Catfish Fish Processing Efficiency”.

UNY READY TO SYNERGY WITH MINISTRY OF VILLAGES FOR VILLAGE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

The Minister of Villages/PDTT, Abdul Halim Iskandar, M.Pd pointed out the importance of cross-institutional synergy in village development during Studium Generale at UNY on Saturday, 4 January 2019. UNY also had significant role because UNY, as a teacher training tertiary institution, had multiple empowerment programs for rural communities.

Halim knew very well that UNY had many community service programs.  Because Halim is an alumni of the 1987 Philosophy and Sociology of Education at UNY.

UNY ALUMNI MUST STRENGTHEN NETWORKING

Bachelor degree is the foundation, master degree and doctoral degree are the toppings. Therefore, it is important not to leave bachelor alma mater because we have to focus. Our only goal is to learn with all the challenges. If you have master degree then you already have a background of activity. Therefore we cannot be separated from the bachelor alma mater because there are so many things we get. As stated by the Minister of Villages, Abdul Halim Iskandar in the UNY Alumni Association Meeting at the UNY Hotel Saturday (4/1).

AVOIDING PLAGIARISM WITH MENDELEY APPLICATION

Scientific work is an important part of the world of education. With the Mendeley application, it will be easier to write various scientific works such as paper assignment, thesis, dissertation, research report and scientific journal. Mendeley desktop will enrich research reference sources, research result and compile writing according to correct citation procedure, managing reference documents and also help writers to learn the latest research development. For this reasons, Graduate Students Community of UNY organized Mendeley Training.

STUDENT OF FACULTY OF ENGINEERING UNY SUCCEEDED IN DEVELOPING SRIWEDARI VILLAGE AS TOURISM DESTINATION IN MAGELANG

Khabib Anwari, student of faculty of Engineering class 2015, succeeded in developing Sriwedari Village in Magelang as an active and productive village. The idea was started when Khabib and few students tried to design a program to develop and empowered people that was collaborated with the university during the Students Night of Culinary and Fashion Education Department in 2016. From the two days events, participated students expected to give solution for problems faced by the village people based on their scientific fields.
