GARUDA FORMULA 16 IS TO COMPETE IN JAPAN

Yogyakarta State University (YSU) students who are members of Garuda Formula 16 (FG16) will compete in the 2016 Formula Student Japan organized by Society of Automotive Engineering of Japan (JSAE) in early September. This competition is one of a series of Formula Student from SAE International. This is the most prestigious competition among universities and institutes around the world.

STRAW WASTE POTS TO REPLACE POLY BAGS

Poly bags are much utilized in the process of the seedbed of many types of plants, ranging from agricultural crops, plantation, to plant forestry. Along with the growing number of needs for the use of poly bags, the issue on abundant waste of plastic has risen. Poly bags are made of plastic waste which is very difficult to unravel by microbes in the soil, causing much bigger land pollution. Currently, there is a wide range of efforts to reduce the use of poly bags, one of which is by using organic pots.

YSU STUDENTS ARE READY FOR TEACHING PRACTICE IN MALAYSIA

As a part of the 2016 International Teaching Practice (PPL) program of Yogyakarta State University (YSU), the Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (KUIK) held a farewell ceremony for the students at the Graduate School Hall YSU, to send 17 YSU students from various faculties to follow PPL in Malaysia. Well ahead, there are three universities who are the partners for International PPL, namely Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Putra Sultan Idris (UPSI).

THE OPENING CEREMONY OF INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE 2016

The Rector of , Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., MA opened the “Intensive English Course 2016” intended for the YSU’s lecturers at the room 210 LPPMP YSU on Sunday, 18 July 2016. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., MA expressed that in order to achieve the world class education university status, English language capability is very important. “This is very important, not only for the lecturers of English Department. Everyone must be ready to actively communicate in English, this also goes for the staffs at YSU. I am very happy.

YSU FACULTY OF SCIENCE STUDENT JOINS AVEC 2016 IN THAILAND

Singgih Bekti Worsito (Mechatronic Education) and Catur Adi Nugroho (Information and Telematics Education ) from the Faculty of Science (FT) Yogyakarta State University joint the ASEAN Vocational and Engineering Camp (AVEC) 016 (3-10/07-2016) which was held by Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), Thailand. Their participation in this event was also due to the fact that FT is a part of the Regional Association for Vocational Teacher Education in East and Southeast Asia.

WELCOMING CEREMONY FOR THAI STUDENTS

On the last Tuesday (19 July, 2016), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) welcomed 4 students from Thailand named Panawan Nison, Kunlayut Chuisri, Jirapa Upatham dan Sirisup Junampai who would be teaching in YSU partner school, namely SMP Negeri 1 Yogyakarta. The guests were warmly welcomed by Dr. Ing- Satoto E. Nayono, M.Eng.M.Sc. as the Director of the Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP), Dr. Sulis Triyono, M.Pd. as the Head of Field Practice Services, and the Headmaster of SMP Negeri 1 Yogyakarta.

YSU FACULTY OF SPORT SCIENCE’S (FIK) STUDENT BROUGHT UP THE NAME OF INDONESIA IN THE ASEAN UNIVERSITY GAMES

It was Eka Cahaya Ningrum, the student of Athletic Sports Coaching Education Program succeeded in bringing up the name of Indonesia at the ASEAN level (South-East Asia). This sprinter with high stature from Kediri, East Java, had won two silver medals at number relay 1 x 400 meters and 4 x 400 m along with three colleagues at the 18th ASEAN University Games held at Chua Chu Kang Stadium. ASEAN University Games (ASEAN Student Sports Week) this year was held on 10 to 19 July 2016 in Singapore and contesting 16 sports from Athletics, Rugby Sevens, until Pétanque.

HIGH SCHOOLS IN YOGYAKARTA TO INCLUDE MULTICULTURAL CONCEPTS IN THEIR TEACHING

Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) has recently run a workshop of Multicultural Education Competency Development in High Schools in Yogyakarta that was held in PPS Hall (23/06/2016). The workshop was as part of international joint research between YSU and University of Auckland, New Zealand. The research brought the title of Development of Cultural Competence in Multicultural Education in Indonesia and New Zealand. Leading the research project was Prof. Zamroni, Ph.D, a Professor in Economics.

FMNS YSU ANNOUNCED THE WINNER OF 2016 YOUTH BUSINESS INNOVATION COMPETITION

Miftahudin Nur Ihsan, a graduate of Chemistry Education, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) recently grabbed the 1st position in the 2016 Youth Business Innovation Competition in the field of Entrepreneurship organized by Youth Center BPO DIY, Yogyakarta Special Province. In the final stage held at the Youth Center BPO DIY on 23 June 2016, Miftahudin Nur Ihsan brought Smart Batik Indonesia to grab the top score.
