Thirteen UNY students received scholarships in various countries through IISMA in 2024. This was said by the Director of the Directorate of Academic, Student Affairs and Alumni (DAKA) UNY Prof. Lia Yuliana in the Onboarding of IISMA 2024 Awardees by the Ministry of Research and Technology at the Auditorium Building D 2nd Floor of the Ministry of Research and Technology, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/5). Besides the Director of DAKA, Ghulam Dzaky Dewanto, Marketing Management 2021, Faculty of Vocational Studies, was also present.

Various issues arise in the management of graduate schools related to the integration of master's and doctoral levels that join the faculty, mono vs multi-disciplinary and transdisciplinary. These are the challenges and opportunities discussed in the meeting of the Association of Postgraduate Leaders of State Universities throughout Indonesia held on May 10-12, 2024. 47 participants actively participated in this meeting.

"We need engineers who are professional and have integrity to develop better Indonesia. I hope these new engineers can contribute to the development of the nation and state," said UNY Rector, Prof. Sumaryanto, during the Yudisium for 17 students of UNY Professional Engineer Program Study Program on 18 May 2024.

UNY believes that cultural preservation efforts need to start at an early age. For this reason, UNY provides an opportunity for 30 young dalang (puppeteers) to compete in the Festival Dalang Cilik (Young Puppeteer Festival) UNY 2024.  The participants of this competition consisted of 15 elementary school students and 15 junior high school students. Interestingly, out of the 30 participants, there were 4 female dalang. The festival was held in the UNY-assisted village of Krapyak IX, Margoagung, Seyegan, Sleman.

Dr. Mohamad Termizi Bin Borhan from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) shared his valuable knowledge in the field of integrated natural sciences learning through the Visiting Professor program of the EQUITY Project scheme. A total of 146 bachelor's degree students of natural sciences education learned about the dynamics of integrated natural sciences learning in Southeast Asia and its application specifically in Malaysia. Meanwhile, 47 UNY students who are pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in Natural Sciences Education learned about Problem & Project Based Learning.

Asma' Khoirunnisa' from the Statistics Study Program became the first winner in the Selection of Outstanding Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNY. This award is a form of appreciation for students who have made achievements in various fields at the faculty level. In addition, on this occasion, the faculty also gave awards to outstanding students at the department level. On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the UNY’s International Office organized an evaluation and academic monitoring event for international students at Bale Timoho, Yogyakarta. The event saw a remarkable turnout, with over 100 students participating, representing various programs, including KNB Programs, UNY DISS, Dharmasiswa, and BIPA. Accompanying them were coordinators and tutors for the BIPA program.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) recently embarked on a collaborative venture with Mahidol University and Chulalongkorn University from February 25 to March 1, 2024, aimed at enriching the educational experience of its staff. The initiative sought to deepen understanding of academic practices and institutional management within higher education.

The Department of Mathematics Education UNY held a guest lecture by presenting a Professor from the Faculty of Science Nara Women's University Japan, Professor Fugo Takasu. The lecture took place in Conference Room 1 of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNY. A total of 50 participants consisting of master and doctoral program students attended the guest lecture with enthusiasm.
